Walter and Limehouse Lead Griffins to a Big Win over Spartans

Griffin Walter rushed for three touchdowns and threw a fourth as the Chestnut Hill College football team defeated St. Thomas Aquinas college 45-20 in their final home game of the season.

The Griffins improve to 5-1 on the season while STAC falls to 2-4.

Prior to the game the football team recognized their senior players who were participating in their final home game of their careers.  A total of 12 players were recognized with a ceremonial runout prior to the start of the game.  The 12 players included Andre Cancellare, Aiden Neff, Hunter Oaks, Amir Jenkins, Evan Johnson, Josiah Wiggins, Carter Getz, Dahquan Richardson, Joe Lisa, Lexx Santiago, John Manion, and Brady Reynolds.

Walter ran the ball into the end zone three times on the afternoon, equaling school records previously set by his backfield partner Xavier Limehouse for most rushing touchdowns in a game, most overall touchdowns in a game and most points in a game (18).  He carried the ball ten times for 47 yards.  Walter also completed 16 of 20 passes for 191 yards and threw for a touchdown.

Limehouse produced the bulk of the Griffins' 275 yards of rushing offense, carrying the ball 26 times for 192 total yards and two touchdowns.

Brady Cunningham and Neff caught five passes apiece with Neff catching one touchdown pass.  Reynolds was a perfect 6-for-6 on extra point attempts and kicked a 41-yard field goal, tying his own school record set last season also against STAC.

Oaks and Jenkins had six tackles apiece. Trevon Hodnett added five , recorded an interception and had a quarterback hurry. Jamaal Jackson also had interception, returning it 14 yards.

Limehouse broke free for a 61-yard touchdown run, the longest run from scrimmager in his career to put the Griffins on the board on their first possession of the game with 7:42 left in the first quarter.

The Spartans tied the score sat 7-7 on their next possession before the Griffins scored three times in the second quarter to take a commanding 28-7 lead.  Limehouse scored from two yards out for his second touchdown of the game while Walter ran for his first touchdown of the game with 3:21 left.  Hodnett's interception led to the Griffins' third touchdown of the quarter, a 17-yard pass from Walter to Neff.

Jackson's interception with just under a minute remaining gave the Griffins one more opportunity to score before halftime.  Chestnut Hill reached the STAC 20-yard line and stalled.  Reynolds' field goal attempt was no good as time expired.

Walter scored his second touchdown, a six yard run on Chestnut Hill's opening possession on the second half to boost the Griffins' lead to 35-7.

STAC scored their second touchdown with the help of a 44-yard punt return from Trevon Washington to start their drive just six yards out.  Three plays later the Spartans scored to cut the Griffins' lead to 35-14.

The Griffins' final touchdown came on CHC's first drive in the fourth quarter as Walter completed a nine-play 67-yard effort with a one yard touchdown run with 10:31 left.

Gabriel Baker recovered a Spartan fumble on the ensuing kickoff and four plays later Reynolds connected from 41 yards out for a field goal and a 45-14 Chestnut Hill lead.

The Spartans scored on their next possession but failed on their two point conversion attempt to make the final score 45-20 with 3:29 left.  The Griffins were then able to run out the clock to secure their fifth win over the season.

The football team returns to action on Friday, November 6, 2026 when they travel to Franklin Field in Philadelphia to take on the University of Pennsylvania.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
