In their penultimate conference match of the regular season, the Chestnut Hill College women's Tennis team defeated Saint Thomas Aquinas College 5-2 in Sparkill New York Monday afternoon.
The Griffins improve to 7-4 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play and 9-4 overall. STAC falls to 1-8 in league play and 1-9 overall.
Chestnut Hill took the doubles point, only needing to win one match as the Spartans defaulted at #3 doubles. The #1 doubles team of Elena Arenas Guisasola and Lilian Bandel defeated Lily Dematas-Gonzalez 6-3 to secure the point and take an early 1-0 lead.
The Spartans tied the match at 1-1 with the Griffins defaulting at #6 singles but quickly retook the lead as Veronika Lundgren defeated Lisa Matz 6-1, 6-0 at #4 singles. Milica Zagorac followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Shreethika Vangala at #2 singles and Fabienne Lahn clinched the match for the Griffins with a 6-2, 6-0 win at #5 singles over Nina Victoria Derkic.
Bandel scored the final point for the Griffins with a three-set win over Gonzalez at #3 singles, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4.  STAC scored their final point with a three set win at #1 singles.
The women's tennis team will play their final regular season conference match of the season on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 when they host Jefferson University at the CHC Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
