Alejandro Redondo Cybak led four players in double figures as the Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team got back on the winning track with an 80-70 win over Wilmington university Wednesday evening at Sorgenti Arena.
The Griffins improve to 8-14 overall and 6-9 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Wildcats fall to 8-16 overall and 4-12 in league play.
Cybak recorded his sixth double-double of the season, scoring 21 points and grabbing ten rebounds. Jeremiah Gorham added 15 points (5-8 FG, 2-3 3FG) while Amari Dow and Kamal Lee chipped in 11 and ten points, respectively. Dow also added eight rebounds while Gorham led the team with four assists and two steals. Cybak had a pair of blocks.
Both teams started off slowly with the Wildcats holding an early lead. The Griffins used a 16-3 run to take an 11-point lead 17-6 with 11:53 left, following Cybak's three-point field goal capping the run  having scored seven of the 16 points.  Wilmington followed with an 8-2 effort to close within five 19-14 and later cut the lead to four with just under a minute left in the half, 31-27. Cybak sank two free throws to close out the half, giving Chestnut Hill a six point lead 33-27 at halftime.
The Wildcats opened the second half with a 7-2 run to pull within one 35-34. Chestnut Hill pushed the margin back up to seven 45-38 with a 10-4 run, with three layups from Dow and four free throws from Landon Shivers. Gorham's traditional three-point play with 11:23 left again gave the Griffins a double digit lead 53-43 and a three-point bucket from Malcolm Day pushed the lead to 12, 56-44. Wilmington brough the lead back down to single digits with a 9-4 run only to have Gorham push CHC's margin back into double digits two possessions later with a three point basket.Â
The Griffins took their biggest lead of the game 70-57 with 4:43 left when Day slammed down a fast break dunk. The Wildcats would get no closer than eight the rest of the way as Chestnut Hill made five of eight free throws in the final 2:04 to seal the win.
For the game, the Griffins turned in the better shooting effort, masking 27 of 55 shots for 49.1%. The Wildcats made 25 of 61 shots (41.0%). Chestnut Hill more than doubled up Wilmington with seven three point baskets to their opponents three. The Griffins also connected on 70.4%(19-27) of their free throws (WU 17-29- 58.6%). Chestnut Hill also had a slight 41-35 rebound advantage while the Wildcats committed five fewer turnovers (10 to 15).
The men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, February 14, 2026 when they host Caldwell University in their penultimate regular season home game. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
