Four players scored in double figures as the Chestnut Hill College women's Basketball team snapped their two-game losing streak with a 71-62 win over the University of Bridgeport at Hubbell Gymnasium in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The Griffins improve to 14-12 overall and 11-7 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games. The Purple Knights fall to 7-11 in league play and 9-14 overall. When holding opponents to 65 points or less, the Griffins are now 10-1.
Sara Tamoun led all scorers with 19 points. Tikyra Miller added 13 points (6-10 FG). Joining Tamoun and Miller in doubles figures were Tiayo Adelekan and Anahita Jackson. Adelekan finished with 12 points (4-5 FG, 4-7 FT) while Jackson  added ten, including two three point baskets.
Five different Griffins finished the game with four rebounds to lead the team, including Tamoun and Jackson, along with Sabria Mann, Kourin Carew and Aryianna Sumpter. Jackson led the team with four assists.
The Purple knights scored the first three points of the game before the Griffins followed with a 7-1 run to take a 7-4 with five of the points scored by Miller.   Chestnut Hill's lead fluctuated between one and three points as the quarter wound down before three-point baskets from Tamoun and Jackson pushed their lead to eight, 19-11 before Bridgeport cut the lead back to three. Tamoun added another three-ball with 11 seconds left to give Chestnut Hill a 22-16 lead after the first quarter.
The Griffins led by eight midway through the second quarter before six straight free throws, two from Tamoun, two from Adelekan and two more from Kaya Mobley, increased CHC's lead to 14, 39-25 with 2:40 left in the half. The Purple Knights cut the lead to nine before Carew's three-point basket with five seconds left gave the Griffins a 42-30 lead at halftime.
The third quarter belonged to the hosts as they outscored the Griffins 19-10 in the quarter to pull within three , 52-49 heading into the final period. The Griffins opened the final quarter with an 8-2 run to go back up by nine points, 60-51. Bridgeport  would come as close as five before the Griffins closed out the game with a 7-3 run to come away with a 71-62 win and complete the season sweep of the Purple Knights.
The women's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 when they travel to face area rival Jefferson University before closing out the regular season with a home game against Felician University. The Jefferson contest tips off at 6:00 p.m. while the Felician game has a 1:00 p.m. tipoff.
