Flag Football Drops Two at Centenary

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Flag Football team struggled against their two  opponents on Saturday, falling to Centenary 19-0 and then dropping a 40-6 decision against Eastern University.

The Griffins drop to 1-7 on the season with the two losses.

Bry Hicks scored the only touchdown on the afternoon in the second game,  a 59-yard pass thrown by quarterback Caroline Croteau in the second quarter against Eastern.

Hicks finished the game with three catches for 67 yards.  Croteau completed eight passes for 105 yards.  On defense, Elizabeth Lumpkin had five tackles, including two for loss  and added two pass break-ups.

Eastern had jumped out to a 13-0 lead before the hicks touchdown catch made the score 13-6.  The Eagles added another score before halftime to lead 19-6 and went on to score 21 unanswered points in the second half.

The Griffins struggled offensively in the first game against Centenary, netting just 71 yards of total offense.  Croteau (27 yards) and Aaliyah Gonzalez (23 yards) combined for 50 yards passing  while Croteau had 16 of the Griffins 21 yards rushing.   Lumpkin had six catches for 32 yards.  Venus Snead led the team with four tackles on defense  Croteau  added three and had an interception, her fourth of the year.

Centenary scored once in the second quarter and added a touchdown in the third and another in the fourth to account for their 19 points.

The women's flag football team returns to action on Thursday, April 2, 206 with games at Marymount University, taking on Marywood University at 2:00 p.m. and then host Marymount  at 3:30 p.m.
