The Chestnut Hill College Softball team dropped both games on the second day of their spring trip, falling to Grove City College 3-1 and St. Elizabeth University 5-1 at North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Wednesday.
The Griffins fall to 2-2 with the two losses.
Opening the day against Grove City, the Griffins banged out six hits but gave up two runs in the third and three in the fourth as they dropped their first game of the season.
Braylie LaFisca took the loss, tossing five innings and giving up all three runs on eight hits and striking out one.
Mikayla Pengelly had two hits and drove in the Griffins lone run.
Trailing 2-0, the Griffins scored their lone run in the top half of the fourth inning. Jenn Pokropinski walked an moved to second on a wild pitch. Madison Band followed with a single and Pengelly hit into a fielder's choice to score Pokropinski and make the score 2-1.
Grove City added their final run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Griffins struck first in the second game of the day but St. Elizabeth score twice in the sixth and seventh innings to take home a 5-1 win.
Nicole Swatko started and pitched three innings, giving up an earned run while striking out three. Moira Maw pitched the next 2.1 innings and took the loss giving up two runs.
Band had two of the Griffins' five hits and drove in CHC's lone run.
Sabrina Martin reached on a two-out error in the bottom of the first. Brynn Pollard replaced her on the basepath. Pollard moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Band's single to right field.
St. Elizabeth tied the game at 1-1 in the top half of the second and the score remained deadlocked until the sixth when the eagles scored twice to take the lead for good. SEU added two more runs in the seventh to round out the scoring.
The Griffins return to action on Thursday, March 7, 2026 with a double header at Fayetteville State University. First pitch is at 11:00 a.m.
