Griffins Defeat Lions in Final Home Game of Regular Season as Duddy Reaches 100 Career Points

The playoff bound Chestnut Hill College Men's Lacrosse team got a measure of revenge Saturday when they hosted the 2025 Central Atlantic collegiate Conference tournament champions Georgian Court University at Victory Field, defeating the Lions 12-5 and while also solidifying a playoff spot.

The Griffins had lost in last year's semi finals to the Lions, snapping their four year championship streak.  Their win on Saturday gives the team a 6-1 conference record and assures that the team will finish no worse than third with one conference game remaining.  The Lions were eliminated from playoff contention with the loss, falling to 3-4 in league with one game remaining.

Will Duddy reached a career milestone with a goal and two assists in the game, becoming the 14th player in program history to record 100 career points.  He currently has 24 points on the season and for his career, 61 goals and 39 assists for 100 points exactly.

Four additional Chestnut Hill players scored two goals apiece, led by Jake Ballerini who also added two assists to finish with four points.  The freshman trio of Charles Cox, Preston Page and Matthew Miller also had two goals apiece.   Aidan Walsh, Colin Swiderski and Anthony Arch also scored. 

Thomas Gallagher led the team with four caused turnovers while Silas Charles chipped in two.  Page had four ground balls while Aidan Owens added three.   Adam Daley recorded 11 saves in goal.

The Griffins jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the first period and never looked back.  Miller tallied an unassisted goal just 43 seconds into the game with Swiderski scoring at the nine-minute mark and Duddy giving the Griffins a 3-0 lead with 5:07 left in the period. 

Miller tallied his second goal of the game 53 seconds into the second period with an assist from Jonathan Bartolomei, making the 4-1.  The Lions closed within one 4-3, before Ballerini scored with 7:38 left and assisted on arch's goal with 2:13 left to give the Griffins a 6-3 lead at halftime.

Page had the only goal of the third quarter and the Griffins then scored the first four goals of the fourth quarter to expand their lead to 11-3.  Duddy got his second assist of the game and his 100th career point on Walsh's goal with 11:53 left.  Cox followed with two goals in a 64-second span and Page added a man-up goal at the 6:59 mark.    Ballerini scored his final goal of the game with just 36 seconds left to round out the scoring.

The men's lacrosse team close out the regular season on Wednesday,April 22, 2026 when they travel to face Post University  in a battle for the #2 seed and home field in the upcoming championship tournament.  Post is currently one game behind the Griffins but could finish tied with Chestnut Hill with a win on Saturday, giving the eagles the tiebreaker at the higher seed.  The game is set to start at 3:30 p.m.
