Flag Football Team Closes Out Season With Two Wins

Raquelle Dandy  scored five touchdowns and passed for four more as the Chestnut Hill College Women's Flag Football team won their final two games of the season Sunday, defeating Marywood University 44-0 and 18-6 at the CHC Athletic Field.

The Griffins finish the season with a 3-13 overall and conference record.

In the opener, Dandy rushed for 109 yards and scored two touchdowns while also recording three interceptions and running two of them back for scores.  She also completed five of 16 passes for 78 yards and two touchdown tosses. 

Bry Hicks caught both touchdown passes and finished the game with four receptions for 64 yards.  Caroline Croteau had two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown.  She also caught two passes and completed three of four pass attempts for 31 yards.

On defense, Janae Ochoa led the team with five tackles while Milani Haynie and Caliyah Brown had four apiece.

Dandy opened the scoring with a 10 yard run for a touchdown with Hicks catching the extra point attempt for a 7-0 lead with 6:57 in the first quarter. She added the first of her two  "pick-6" plays returning an interception 25 yards for the score for a 13- lead early in the second quarter before scoring on a 57-yard touchdown run for a 19-0 lead.

The Griffins went on to score three more times in the quarter to take a 37-0 lead at halftime with Dandy getting a second "pick-6"  and Croteau recording one as well and hicks catching a 23-yard pass for a touchdown.

Hicks added a 19-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter to round of the scoring with a 44-0 advantage.

In game two, Dandy threw two touchdown passes and ran for another as the Griffins prevailed 18-6. Yorehiny Monero caught one of the two touchdown passes, a 65- yard catch and run late in the game  while Croteau caught the other.  (18 yards).  Dandy ran for 93 yards and passed for 115 more. She also led the team with six tackles. 

The Griffins only first half score came in the first quarter with Dandy running the ball in for the first score.  Croteau had her touchdown reception in the third quarter to give the Griffins a 12-0 lead.

Late in the fourth quarter Marywood got on the board as quarterback Erin Day ran in in from three yards out for the score.  The Griffins came back to seal the win with Monero's 65-yard catch-and-run for the score in the final minute of action, giving CHC an 18-6 win to finish the season on a high note.
