Tiger Sweep Doubleheader from Griffins

The Chestnut Hill College Softball team lost both games of their doubleheader at holy Family University on Tuesday, dropping the opener 4-1 before falling in game two 11-2 in five innings.

The Griffins fall to 4-24 overall and 0-14 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games.  The Tigers improve 17-19 overall and 9-5 in league play.

Jenn Pokropinski had the only hit for the Griffins in the opener.  Belle Tetreault took the loss, tossing five innings and allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out two.

The Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning via a leadoff home run by Rylee Hobel.  Holy Family added two more runs in the fifth to lead 3-0 before the Griffins got on the board in the sixth inning.

Braylie LaFisca drew a walk and was sacrificed to second base before Pokropinski delivered a two-out single to right field to score LaFisca with the Griffins' lone run.  The Tigers plated one more in the bottom of the sixth inning to round out the scoring.

Moira Maw had two of the Griffins' five hits in game two while Izabella Rodriguez and Jasmine Ramirez drove in run.  Rebecca Cessna took the loss, pitching two inning and allowing seven runs on five hits.

The Tigers scored twice in the first inning and three times in the second before plating six more in the third to lead 11-0.

Kassidy Colangelo and Maw hit back-to-back singles to start the fourth.  Both runners moved into scoring position on a wild pitch.  Colangelo then scored on Rodriguez's sacrifice fly.  Madison Band singled Maw to third and Maw scored when Ramirez reached on an infield error.  Chestnut Hill later loaded the bases in the inning but were unable to score.

The Griffins put two runners in scoring position in the fifth inning, but an infield groundout ended the threat and sealed the 11-2 win for the Tigers.

The Griffins return to action on Saturday, April 25, 2026 when they host Dominican University at the CHC Softball field.  The games will be the team's senior day games.  First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
