The Chestnut Hill College Men's tennis team continued their solid play, winning for the fifth time in six matches as they defeated Kutztown University 4-3 Thursday afternoon at the Keystone Courts in Kutztown, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins improve to 6-7 overall and 4-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matches. The bears fall to 6-11 overall and 1-5 in league play.
Chestnut Hill quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead, winning the first two matches in doubles play to capture the doubles point.   Enzo Puppi and Ewan Brown defeated Patrick Young and Emmitt Robinson 6-2 at #3 doubles while Alessio Lefebvre and Augustin Daubannay earned a 6-3 win over Joaquin Perez and Terrell Arejola at #2 doubles.
Noah Cutting improved to 12-1 in singles play this season with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Dang Nguyen at #1 singles as the Griffins took a 2-0 lead. Lefebvre was forced to retire due to injury giving the Bears their first point of the match. Brown then made the score 3-1 with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Arejola at #6 singles.
Robinson defeated Daubannay 6-3, 6-4 at #5 singles to pull the bears within one, 3-2 before Puppi clinched the match for the griffins with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Henrique Rocha at #2 singles. KU's Perez won at #4 singles over Filippo Relecom, 6-3, 6-4 for Kutztown's final point.Â
The men's tennis team returns to action on Sunday, April 26,m 2026 when they travel to face Bloomsburg University for their regular season finale. First serve is at 1:00 p.m.
