Griffins close out Regular Season with Win over Huskies

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team closed out their regular season Sunday afternoon, defeating host Bloomsburg University 6-1 at BU's Burt Reese Tennis center in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.

The Griffins finish the regular season with a 7-7 overall record and a 5-1 mark in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play, finishing in second place in their first year in the conference.  Bloomsburg is also 7-7 overall and 3-3 in league play, finishing fourth in the league standings.

The match began with doubles play with Chestnut Hill taking two of the three doubles matches to secure the doubles point and a 1-0 lead in the match.  The team of Noah Cutting and Pablo Cervera won at #1 doubles, defeating Denis Dementev and Sergio Dilan 6-2.  Ewan Brown and Enzo Puppi followed with a 6-3 win at #3 doubles over Landon Wall and Alejandro Higuera.  Bloomsburg captured the #2 doubles match.

Augustin Daubannay made the score 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Dilan at #5 singles  and Brown added another point to the Griffins score with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Wall at #6 singles.

Cutting then clinched the match with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Dementev at #1 singles.  The graduate player finished the regular season with a perfect 6-0 mark in conference singles play and a 12-1 overall singles mark.

Puppi won his match at #2 singles when Higuera retired in the second set and Alessio Lefebvre made the score 6-0 with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Jack Seaborn at #3 singles.   The Huskies lone point came at #4 singles with Jaime Soria defeating Filippo Relecom 6-3, 7-6 (10-7).

Next up for the men's tennis team will be the PSAC Championship Tournament on Friday, May 1, 2026 when the Griffins face Edinboro university, the #3 seed at 10:00 a.m. at Bloomsburg University.
