The Chestnut Hill College Women's Lacrosse team reached the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference playoffs for the first time since the 2019 season. On Tuesday, the sixth-seed Griffins played their first round game at third seed Wilmington University, falling to the Wildcats 19-4.
Four different players scored for the Griffins: Gen Washington-Vasquez; Ryley Geary; Angel'Lique Lockhart and Bryce Westervelt. Maddie Brazukas led the team with four caused turnovers while DeAnna Otero and Westervelt had three ground balls apiece. Mel Amador had seven saves in goal.
The Wildcats took control of the game early, scoring eight times in the first quarter to lead 8-0. Washington Vasquez got the Griffins on the board with an unassisted goal with 4:29 left in the second quarter, making the score 11-1.
Geary added a man-up goal at the 9:03 mark of the third period with Molly Miller on the assist. Lockhart scored with 2:39 left in the quarter with Samantha Martin getting the assist as the Wildcats held a 16-3 lead.
Westervelt scored the final CHC goal with 7:34 left in the game with Martin tallying her second assist of the contest.
The Griffins finished the season with an 8-7 record.
