Wilmington University scored six times in the first quarter as they went on to defeat the chestnut Hill College Women's Lacrosse team 19-4 Tuesday evening at Victory field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins fall to 5-5 overall and 1-4 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Wildcats improve to 11-2 overall and 3-2 in league play.
Elizabeth Deal led the Griffins with three goals on the evening. Samantha Martin added a goal and an assist for two points. Mel Amador led the team with five ground balls and had four saves in goal. DeAnna Otero had two caused turnovers, and Molly Miller won two draw controls.
Wilmington scored six times in the first and added six more in the second quarter before the Griffins got on the board when Deal scored her first goal with 5:04 left in the quarter.
Deal added her second goal late in the third quarter while the Griffins were a man-up, making the score 13-2. Martin made the score 14-2 just 40 seconds into the fourth quarter with an assist from Nicole George. Martin assisted on Deal's third goal of the game just two minutes later to cut the deficit to 14-4. Wilmington scored the final five goals to finalize the 19-4 win.
Ella Royer led the Wildcats with four goals and three assists while Kirra Crowley and Anastasia Giannoulis had three goals apiece.
The women's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday, April 11, 2026 when they travel to Caldwell university for an 11:00 a.m. matinee game against the Cougars.
