Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis athlete Claudia Rasilla Romero was named to the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Women's Tennis team in an announcement from the organization on Monday. Rasilla Romero is one of seven student-athletes selected to the team. The women's tennis team is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Rasilla Romero becomes the eighth women's tennis player in program history to earn Philly-SIDA Area all-Academic Team honors, and just the third since the 2015-16 season. (Nele Haag, 2022-23; Alison Isaac, 2024-25)
In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area, an athlete must be in his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better. A student in graduate school must have at least a 3.30 grade point average in both undergraduate and graduate school (if not in first semester of graduate program).
Rasilla Romero recorded a 18-12 record in 2025-26, playing primary at #5 singles where she recorded an 6-2 mark and #2 doubles (5-4 record). She finished with a 12-5 mark in singles play and 6-7 overall record in doubles matches. She finished her career with 66 total wins (12th on the Griffins' all-time list) with 39 of them coming in singles play (10th on the Griffins' all-time list)
Rasilla is a business administration and management major. She recently graduated summa cum laude with the highest female g.p.a. among all graduating female student athletes. She also received the President's Award for Academic Achievement at the college's commencement ceremony in May. Rasilla Romero was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the national college athlete honor society and Sigma Beta Delta business honor society in 2025. She is a two-time CACC All-Academic Team and D2 Athletic Director's Association Academic Achievement Award Winner and has been named to the CACC Academic honor roll five times while earning Dean's List honors at Chestnut Hill in every semester.
Joining Rasilla Romero on the 2025-26 Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Women's Tennis Team are Esha Velaga from the University of Pennsylvania who was named this year's Performer of the Year; Arcadia's Savannah Falk, Bryn Mawr's Sophie Fenster, Swarthmore's Erin Li, Jefferson's Alycia Veroux, and Penn State-Brandywine's Samma Zahran.
