The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has announced their 2025-26 ITA Division II Women's Academic Awards with 95 programs earning Women's All-Academic Team honors and a total of 649 athletes designated as ITA Scholar Athletes.
In order to be named an ITA Scholar Athlete a tennis player must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. Programs earn ITA All-Academic Team honors by having a team grade point average of 3.2 or better for the current academic year
The Chestnut Hill Women's Tennis team was one of the 95 teams honored as an ITA All-Academic Team, with a team g.p.a. of 3.92 for the 2025-26 academic year. This year's honor is the tenth consecutive year that the Griffins have earned ITA All-Academic Team accolades and marks the 15th time in 16 years dating back to 2011 that the Griffins have earned the honor. The Griffins are also just one of two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) teams and nine East Region teams to be recognized as an All-Academic Team this season.
Every athlete on this year's Chestnut Hill women's tennis team earned ITA Scholar Athlete recognition, led by senior Claudia Rasilla Romero. Juniors Elena Arenas Guisasola and Lillian Bandel along with freshman Veronika Lundren and Milica Zagorac were also recognized.
The three upperclassman are among 14 women's tennis players in program history to earn ITA scholar Athlete honors at least three times with Rasilla Romero being just the fifth player in program history to become a four-time honoree.
The three upper-class honorees are also members of Chi Alpha Sigma, the national college athlete honor society with Bandel and Arenas inducted earlier this month and Rasilla in 2025. Rasilla Romero, Arenas Guisasola, and Bandel have earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Academic Honor roll in each of their last six semesters and have earned Dean's List honors in every semester while attending Chestnut Hill.
Rasilla Romero graduated in May with a degree in business administration and management. Most recently she was awarded the Athletic Department's highest female g.p.a. award for having the highest grade point average among the senior female athletes. Claudia is a three-time CACC All-Academic Team and D2 Athletic Director's Association Academic Achievement Award Winner.
Bandel is also a business administration and management major. In addition to being part of Chi Alpha Sigma, she was inducted into Sigma Beta Delta, the National Business Honor Society in April. Bandel is a two-time CACC All Academic team honoree and will be named a D2ADA Academic Achievement Award honoree for the second time later this summer.
Arenas Guisasola is a biology major at Chestnut Hill. Like Bandel, Arenas Guisasola is a two-time CACC All-Academic team honoree and will be named a D2ADA Academic Achievement Award honoree for the second time later this summer.
Lundgren, a psychology major, and Zagorac, a marketing major, have earned Dean's List, CACC Academic honor roll and CHC Athletic academic Honor roll in each of their first two semesters at Chestnut Hill.
The Griffins' women's tennis team is now the fourth Chestnut Hill team to earn all-Academic Team status from their respective sports association for the 2025-26 academic year, joining the Men's Lacrosse Team (USILA); Men's Basketball Team (NABC) and the Women's Bowling team (NTCA).
