The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat Virginia State University 4-3 Saturday afternoon in Ettrick, Virigina.
The Griffins improve to 2-2-2 with the win while the Trojans fall to 0-3.
Trailing 3-1 st halftime the Griffins scored three-times in the second half to complete the come-from-behind victory. Mohamed Bility brought the Griffins within one with an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute. A little over 90 seconds later, Kholifa Sankoh took a pass from Emmanuel Sampson to tie and pushed it past VSU goalkeeper Jacob Taylor to tie the game at 3-3.
The score remained deadlocked until the 72nd minute when Sampson fed Dane Bodziak for the eventual game winner. The Trojans got off four shots in the final ten minutes, none of which were on target as the Griffins held on for the win.
In the first half Robert Keegan had Chestnut Hill's lone goal, assisted by Hallvard Falch at the 16:53 mark, tying the game at 1-1 before the Trojans scored twice more before halftime.
Joao Miclos, making his Chestnut Hill debut earned the win, making two saves and allowing three goals in 85 minutes.
For the game, the Trojan edged the Griffins in total shots 14-13 but the Griffins had more shots on goal )7-5). Both teams had six corner kicks.
The men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, September 19, 2026 when they travel to face the university of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
