The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team opened conference play at the University of Bridgeport Saturday evening, falling to the Purple Knights 2-0.
The Griffins drop to 2-3-2 overall and 0-1 in Central Atlantic collegiate conference games. The Purple Knights improve to 2-3-3 and 1-0 in league play.
Bridgeport jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 15 minutes into the game on an unassisted goal by Simone Ciancaglini. The Purple Knights tallied their second goal in the 57th minute in the second half on as Kristians Prieditis put the ball past Griffins goalkeeper Max Bond
Bond took the loss to fall to 1-3-2 on the season. He had six saves in the game.
Nitson Mboua had four of the Griffins 12 shots in the game while Emmanuel Sampson added two. Mboua was also one of five players to have a shot on goal, leading the team with two. Alvaro Vasquez and Mboua had shots on goal in the first half while Kholifa Sankoh, Kervening Thelistin and Mohamed Bility added shots on goal in the second half along with Mboua's second SOG of the game.
Bridgeport outshot the Griffins 16-12 (8-6 on net) while both teams recorded three corner kicks.
The men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 when they host Bryant & Stratton College of Rochester, New York. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
