Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Stratz makes 12 Saves as Griffins Battle Nationally Ranked Mavericks to a Scoreless Tie

Ellie Stratz recorded a career-high 12 saves as the Chestnut Hill College Women's Soccer team battled nationally ranked Mercy University to a 0-0 tie Wednesday night at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill.

The Griffins improve to 0-1-2 with the tie while the Mavericks, ranked #9 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Division II Women's Soccer National Poll are now 2-0-1 on the season.

Stratz  stopped six shots on goal in the opening half with the Mavericks producing ten total shots.  She added six more saves in the second half to eclipse her previous career high of 11 saves, set last season against Mercy.  Seven different Mercy players recorded at least one shot on goal.

While Stratz was the brick wall stopping everything the Mavericks tossed at her, the Mercy defense was equally impressive, holding the Griffins to just two shot in the game, both of which were wide of the net.  Lorenza D'Andrea had a shot wide to the left in the opening half while Emma Fitzgerald had a wide left shot in the second half.

For the game, the Mavericks outshot the Griffins 20-2 (12-0 on net) and produced seven corner kicks.

The women's soccer team returns to action on Friday, September 4, 2026 when they host southern Connecticut State University at Victory Field.  Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
