The Chestnut Hill College Women's Soccer team won their second conference game of the season, using strong defense and an unrelenting offense to defeat Lincoln University 2-0 at victory Field in Lafayette Hill.
The Griffins improve to 2-3-2 overall and 2-1 in Central Atlantic collegiate Conference games. The Lions fall to 0-4-2 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Chestnut Hill got goals from Alyssa Browning and Abby Collins as ten different players recorded at least one shot in the contest, led by six from Browning and five from Emma Fitzgerald. Collins had two shots on goal and was one of eight different Chestnut Hill College players to record a shot on goal in the contest.
Chestnut Hill's defense, meanwhile, held the Lions to just two shots in the contest, both in the first half, stifling the Lions offensive attack and recording their third shutout of the season.
Browning put the Griffins on the board at the 26:24 mark of the first half taking a pass from Bryce Westervelt on the left side of the field for a 1-0 lead.  Late in the game, the Griffins capitalized on their pressing defense, taking control of a clear attempt by the Lions and turning it into a breakaway goal by Collins with Chelsea Ritter getting the assist in the 73 minute.
Haley Esposito earned the win, making two saves in the first half. Ellie Stratz entered in the second half. The two earned a combined shutout.
For the game, the Griffins outshot the Lions 25-2 (9-2 on net) and held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, September 26, 2026 when they travel to face Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
