The Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team played a thrilling five set match with area rival Jefferson University Wednesday night at Sorgenti Arena, falling to the Rams 3-2.
The Griffins took the opening set 25-23 before dropping the second set 25-13. Chestnut Hill took a 2-1 lead after winning the third set before the Rams came back and took the final two sets, 26-24 and 15-11 to win the match.
Chestnut Hill falls to 4-9 overall and 0-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Rams improve to 11-3 overall and 3-0 in league play.
Kass Kimmel returned to action after missing five games to lead the Griffins with a career-high 22 kills. Micah McKenzie added 14 kills while Macayla Lindner added 12 while recording just one attack error (12-1-22, .500).
Sarah Allen had four aces while Katelyn Dougherty added three. Sofia Rodriguez recorded a career-high 55 assists on the night.Â
Five players reached double figures in digs led by Rachel Mace's career high 29. Allen also had a career high for digs with 19 while Alex Crespin chipped in 12. Kimmel and Rodriguez both notched double-doubles in the contest with 12 and 11 digs respectively.   Kayle Arozio led all players with five blocks. Lindner and Kimmel added two apiece.
For the match, the Griffins produced their best attack percentage of the season to date, recording 59 kills with 29 errors in 178 attacks (.169).. The Rams hit .209 (56-20-172). Chestnut Hill finished the match with more aces (-5), more digs (91-84) more kills (59-56) and more team blocks (5-3). There was a total of 14 ties in the contest, six in the fourth set alone.Â
The women's volleyball team returns to action on Saturday, September 26, 2026 when they travel to face Monroe University in New Rochelle, New York. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
