Eight different players recorded shots on goal, but the Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team dropped a non-league decision to the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown 4-2 Thursday night at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill.
The Griffins fall to 1-2 with the loss. The Mountain Cats start their season at 1-0.
Chestnut Hill's two goals came in the second half. Trailing 3-0, Dane Bodziak got the Griffins on the board, field a cross from Mohamed Bility in the 60th minute to cut the score to 3-1. Emmanuel Sampson made the score 3-2 with an unassisted goal in the 70th minute. The goal was his first collegiate score.
UPJ had jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three goals in the first half , tallying their first one early at the 6:30 mark, then adding two more later in the half just three minutes apart. The Mountain Cats final goal came in the 77th minute of the foot of Bernat Pujol, the fourth different player on the UPJ squad to score a goal, making the final score 4-2.
Bodziak, Kervening Thelistin, and Kholifa Sankoh led the Griffins with two shots on goal apiece. The Griffins finished the game out shooting the Mountain Cats 19-10 (11-8 on net) and held an 11-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Max Bond took the loss in net, recording four saves in the complete game effort. UPJ goalkeeper George Pasko had nine saves in his collegiate debut.
The men's soccer team continue their homestand with a match against Shippensburg University on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
