Biography
FRESHMAN (2009) - Benson earned the Coach's Award after taking over as the team's primary offensive threat. She led the Griffins with 178 kills and 46 blocks to total a team-high 217 points. Her top performance came at Felcian College on October 17, where she recorded 18 kills, an ace, and three blocks.
SOPHOMORE (2010) - Benson claimed the 2010 team Most Valuable Player (MVP) award after leading the Griffins on both sides on the net. She totaled a team-highs in kills (198) and blocks (73), ranking eighth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for blocks. She had her career performance to date against Felician College on November 4. Benson totaled 17 kills, two aces, and six blocks to power the Griffins to a 3-1 win over the Golden Falcons; their second CACC victory of the season.
JUNIOR (2011) - After an early injury, Benson returned to be a complete force for the Griffins. She provided dominant play on the offensive and defensive sides of play. The reigning team MVP totaled 70 blocks to go along with her 142 kills for the season. On September 20 Benson recorded 12 kills, and was responsible for 15 of the Griffins points against Wilmington University. As the season progressed, Benson’s defensive capabilities truly flourished as she recorded 7 blocks a piece in back-to-back matches against the University of the Sciences, October 25, and Wilmington University, October 27.
SENIOR (2012) – Benson made her first and last appearance of the season in the first set of the season finale. She recorded two blocks to finish her collegiate career as the Griffins all-time leader in kills (518), solo blocks (89), and total blocks (191) at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II level. She was recognized on as the team’s 2012-103 Coach’s Award winner and was a member of the Chestnut Hill College Athletics Fall 2012 Academic Honor Roll.
