D.J. Santoro Jr.

#8 D.J. Santoro '11

Santoro joined the Chestnut Hill College baseball coaching staff in 2012 as an assistant coach after a four-year playing career as a member of the inaugural 2008 Griffins. A two-year captain, Santoro served as the program’s starting third baseman from 2008-2011 while contributing a stern eye for the strike zone and a propensity for getting on base. He earned the 2008 Baseball Coach’s Award after batting .289 (35-for-121) with 17 runs-batted-in (RBI) as a 40-game starter at the hot corner.

On the field, Santoro was always a student of the game. It paid off in his senior season with a .310 (22-for-71) batting average and a .419 on-base percentage, both career-highs. He finished his collegiate career with a .270 (101-for-374) batting average, 36 runs, 47 RBI, a .310 slugging percentage, a .364 on-base percentage, and 11 stolen bases. During his years as a student-athlete at Chestnut Hill College, Santoro was also a great supporter of the College and his fellow Griffins. He was a valued member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), served as a student-athlete representative at College functions, and was known as the honorary founder of the “Big Red Candle”, our basketball student section.

Santoro has worked as an instructor with Head Coach Bob Spratt’s Total Skills Baseball Camp, but in recent years he moved on to coach in the Greater Norristown American Legion Baseball League (2013-2015). As the manager of the Mt. Carmel Mounties, Santoro won a league championship in 2013 for which he was also recognized as the league's Manager of the Year. He currently coaches the Nether Providence Prep Legion team.

Santoro is currently employed in the healthcare division at Siemens while residing in Springfield, Pennsylvania, with his wife Amanda.
