Chestnut Hill College Athletics

SOPHOMORE (2015) – After transferring from Bucks County Community College, Monaghan (38gp-31gs) provided an immediate boost, finishing second in batting average (33-for-103, .320) while totaling eight doubles, two triples, a home run for a .466 slugging percentage. He ranked fourth on the team in runs scored (28) and third in runs-batted-in (24 RBI) while offering a .415 on-base percentage (18 walks) and nine (9-of-14, .643) stolen bases. Monaghan also made six appearances on the mound (3 starts), posting a 1-3 record and a 5.40 earned run average (ERA). He allowed 11 earned runs on 19 hits and 14 walks while striking out 10 over 18.1 innings of work. Monaghan was also a member of the Chestnut Hill College Spring 2015 Athletics Academic Honor Roll.

JUNIOR (2016) – In his first season as a team captain, Monaghan appeared in 44 games (44gp-39gs), starting 39 of them in right field. He totaled 49 hits to bat .325 (49-for-151) on the season and offered a .391 slugging percentage with four doubles and three triples. Monaghan scored 23 runs and knocked in 24 while stealing eight (8-of-13, .615) bases. He recorded 14 walks and struck out 27 times. A hot start earned him back-to-back appearances on the CACC Weekly Report as Monaghan earned Honor Roll mention on February 29 and March 7.

SENIOR (2017) – Monaghan (45gp-38gs) took on captain duties in his senior season and saw time on the mound as well, helping lead the Griffins to their third CACC Championship appearance in five seasons. He batted .190 (22-for-116) with a .281 on-base percentage and a .284 slugging percentage thanks to a home run and a team-high four triples. Monaghan totaled 17 runs, 13 runs-batted-in (RBI), and stole five bases (5-of-7, .968). On the mound, he made four starts in seven appearances, posting a 5.25 earned run average (ERA) over 24.0 innings of work. He struck out 12 and walked 13. Academically, Monaghan earned recognition on both the fall 2016 and spring 2017, Chestnut Hill College Athletics Academic Honor Rolls, as well as, the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball All-Academic Team.
