Biography

FRESHMAN (2016) – Szumigala started 35 games (39gp-35gs) as the Griffins’ third baseman. He finished the season with a .255 (27-for-106) batting average, a .340 slugging percentage, and a .373 on-base percentage while drawing 19 walks and striking out 36 times. As a result, Szumigala recorded 21 runs and knocked 13. He also stole four bases (4-of-7, .571). Szumigala was a two-time CACC Weekly Honor Roll mention (February 29 and April 18) and the CACC Rookie of the Week on May 10.

SOPHOMORE (2017) – Szumigala (28gp-23gs) saw time at third base, as the designated hitter, pitched, and eventually started in right field during the Griffins’ Central Atlantic College Conference (CACC) playoff run. He batted .200 (14-for-70) on the year, recording 10 runs and six runs-batted-in (RBI). Szumigala also drew 10 walks and stole four bases (4-for-5). On the mound, he logged 2.2 innings of work over four appearances.

RED-SHIRT JUNIOR (2018) – Szumigala (4gp-4gs) batted a .250 (2-for-8), carried a .538 on-base percentage with four walks, and slugged a .375 with one double. He scored two runs and provided two runs-batted-in (RBI).
