Chris Evans ‘18 joined the Chestnut Hill College men’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant prior to the 2019-2020 season. He returned in 2021-2022, assuming assistant coaching duties under former teammate, Head Coach J.J. Butler ’18 MA. A dynamic big man, Evans works specifically with the Scarlet and Gold forwards and centers on skill development. His recruiting responsibilities include Philadelphia’s surrounding counties and New Jersey.

Evans made 42 starts (20th All-time) in 67 games played (24th) as a member of the Scarlet and Gold. During that time he amassed more than 600 points (614, 21st) and logged more than 1,000 minutes (1,097, 29th) for the Griffins. Evans earned the program’s 2016-2017 Coach’s Award and assumed captain duties during his senior campaign (2017-2018). During his breakout junior season, Evans led the Griffins in scoring (334 points), points-per-game (12.8 PPG), field goals made (126), field goal percentage (.504), three-pointers made (38), three-pointers attempted (94), three-point percentage (.404), offensive rebounds (35), defensive rebounds (73), total rebounds (108), rebounds-per-game (4.2 RPG), and blocks (14, T1st). He also ranks among the program’s Top-20 All-Time in field goals made (19th, 236), field goals attempted (20th, 492), field goal percentage (12th, .480), three-pointers made (14th, 70), three-pointers attempted (14th, 190), three-point percentage (5th, .368), free throw percentage (20th, .686; 72-of-105), offensive rebounds (T19th, 70), blocks (T11th, 31), and blocks-per-game (T14th, 0.5).
 
Evans began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach for the 2019-2020 Chestnut Hill College men’s basketball team. On the Sorgenti Arena sidelines, Coach Evans assisted Head Coach – and current Director of Athletics and Recreation - Jesse Balcer in all facets of team activities, including individual workouts, recruiting, game-day operations, as well as team success and continuity.
 
As a graduate of the College’s criminal justice program, Coach Evans has established himself as a professional in the youth services field. He was an intern with Public Health Management Corporation (2017-2018) prior to graduation and forayed into a role as a long-term substitute teacher with Extended School Services (ESS) (2019-2020) before eventually taking a Positive Behavior Interventions/Supports (PBIS) Coach position with the Lincoln Center for Family and Youth (2020-Present). Coach Evans currently resides in Pottstown, Pennsylvania.
