Peter Burns

Peter Burns joined Coach Terranova’s staff as an assistant prior to the 2018 season. A former student-athlete at St. John Fisher College (2003-2006), head coach at Abington High School since 2014, and owner of Bandits Lacrosse Club, Burns’ wealth of lacrosse experience was a welcomed addition to Chestnut Hill College Athletics.

While serving as the Head Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse Coach at Abington High School (2014-present), Burns became the owner of the Bandits Lacrosse Club of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2015. The Bandits Lacrosse Club has provided local high school lacrosse players with a dedicated coaching staff that believes in the teaching the fundamentals of the game and year-round programming that enhances members’ overall skill levels and of every lacrosse IQ. Bandits Lacrosse uses a curriculum-based training method known as the 70/30 Player Development Model, where 70% of a season is focused on skill training and the remaining 30% is dedicated to exercising those skills in competition.

At Abington High School, Burns led the Galloping Ghosts to back-to-back Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) District One postseason appearances (2014, 2015). Under Burns, Abington High School has accumulated eight All-District One Third Team performers, 11 All-District One Second Team performers, 10 All-District One First Team performers, two all-state selections, one US Lacrosse High School All-American, and one US Lacrosse High School Academic All-American. During his time at Abington High School, Burns graduated nine student-athletes to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) men’s lacrosse programs.

Burns was the director of operations at NXT Lacrosse from 2014-2015 and has also served as a facility payroll and scheduling manager for both the Philadelphia Phillies/Global Spectrum (2009-2014) and the Philadelphia Eagles (2008-2009).

Burns attended high school at West Genesee High School of Syracuse, New York, where he also served as a volunteer assistant coach in 2006. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from St. John Fisher College in 2006 and acquired a master’s degree in the same discipline from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Cortland in 2007. He currently resides in Abington, Pennsylvania.
