Biography
FRESHMAN (2015) – Craig (42gp-40gs) made an instant impact with his bat and glove; the rookie led the team in runs (31), stole 11 bags (11-of-16, .688), and compiled a .983 fielding percentage to earn a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week honor on the March 16th report and All-CACC Second Team laurels at season’s end. He batted .239 (32-for-134) with a double and three triples earning him a .276 slugging percentage. Craig knocked in 16 runs, batting primarily from the leadoff spot, from which he offered a .350 on-base percentage with 19 walks. He also made three appearances (1 start) on the mound, offering a 1-0 record and a 7.27 earned run average (ERA) by allowing seven earned runs on 11 hits and nine walks while striking out six over 8.2 innings or work.
SOPHOMORE (2016) – Craig led-off the Scarlet and Gold lineup and started all 43 (43gp-43gs) of the games in which he appeared – 41 of them at second base. He batted .291 (44-for-151) with a .391 slugging percentage and a .440 on-base percentage earning him an All-CACC Second Team laurel. Craig scored a team-high 36 runs and knocked in 19 while drawing a team-high 34 walks and striking out 25 times. He also led the Griffins in stolen bases with 20 success in 27 attempts (20-of-27, .741), tying him for third in the CACC. Craig was a two-time CACC Weekly Honor Roll mention, earning recognition on March 14 and April 4.
JUNIOR (2017) – Craig (43gp-42gs) was a key component again in 2017, receiving the team’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at the Athletics Awards Reception and a third straight All-CACC Second Team honor; this time at the shortstop position. Craig batted .315 (45-for-143), carried a .462 on-base percentage, and slugged .413, while leading the Griffins in runs (35), hits (45), and stolen bases (20-for-25). For his effort, he captured four CACC Weekly Honor Roll recognitions (3/7, 3/14, 4/11, 5/11).
Senior (2018) – Craig's credentials qualified him as a finalist for the HERO SPORTS DII Baseball Player of the Year, the 2018 All-CACC First Team shortstop (All-CACC Second Team in 2015 (2B), 2016 (2B), and 2017 (SS) - orchestrated the greatest offensive season in Chestnut Hill College history with single-season records in hits (60), runs (53), triples (11), total bases (104), slugging (.698), on-base percentage (.520), and stolen bases (47-of-48, .979), with his totals in triples and stolen bases currently leading the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II. He tied Dan Etherton '11 for the program's single-season batting average mark (.403) and matched his own single-season walk record (38), which he set last season (2017). Additionally, his triples, stolen bases, and on-base percentage topped the CACC this year, a season in which he was named the league Player of the Week on three occasions (5/1, 4/16, 3/13) and earned Weekly Honor Roll recognition three times (5/7, 4/9, 3/5). As the Griffins' shortstop, he captained one of the league's top defenses with a .971 fielding percentage (209 total chances, 70 putouts, 6 errors) and a league-high 133 assists. Craig recorded the 150th hit of his collegiate career in a 7-3 win over Jefferson on April 11, was named the NCBWA Division II Hitter of the Week on April 17, and reached base in his last 51 games. He was honored with his second straight Baseball Most Valuable Player (MVP) title and the Male Athletic Director's Award Chestnut Hill College Athletics Award Reception and finished his career second all-time in hits (181) and first all-time in games played (172), games started (169), runs scored (155), triples (19), walks (129), stolen bases (98), and assists (454).Craig led the campaign with all-region recognition from the Division II (D2) Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) (2nd Team), the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings (2nd Team), and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) (3rd Team, Honorable Mention).
