Damien Abrams joined the Chestnut Hill College Women’s Basketball program in the fall of 2023, bringing with him 11 years of coaching experience.

Prior to joining the Griffins, Abrams spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Alvernia University.  As part of coach Rayne Reber’s staff, he helped lead the team from a last place position, to one of the best teams in the MAC conference. Alvernia’s 2022-2023 season was very historical, with the team finishing the season 20-10 overall and  11-5 in conference play; finishing second in the conference and appearing in its first MAC championship game. Alvernia also was able to qualify for ECAC tournament in which they won the Championship over New Jersey City University.

Abrams began his collegiate coaching career under coach Reber at Rosemont College in 2018 following a successful high school coaching career. In his first season with the Ravens, he helped the college achieved its first CSAC championship and first Division III NCAA tournament experience.

Looking to give back to his community through basketball, Abrams began his coaching career with an opportunity from Mastery Charter North Athletic Director, Mike Poploskie, to come assist with the high school girls’ basketball program. He started as an assistant coach for Mastery North under Coach David Polett in 2011. In his time as an assistant he helped lead the Lady Pumas to a 20-4 season and was promoted to head coach of the Lady Pumas the following season.

In six seasons as the head coach of the Mastery Charter North High School girls’ basketball team, Abrams led the Lady Pumas to five PIAA-D12 Division Championships, four PIAA-D12 Finals Appearance, five PIAA Tournament Appearances and first PIAA Public League Championship. In 2015, he was named Public League Coach of the Year.

Coach Abrams is very excited to be joining Chestnut Hill Women’s Basketball program under Coach Reggie Daniels. Go Griffins!
