One of the finest student-athletes to play basketball at Chestnut Hill College, Lindsay Alexander returns to her alma mater for her seventh season as an assistant coach for the Griffins’ Women’s Basketball program in 2022-2023.
Alexander was one of the top players in the program’s history. During her stellar career from 2009-213 she was a three-time all-conference honoree and is one of just three players in program history to score 1,000 points (1,116) and grab 600 rebounds (603).
Joining the coaching staff in 2015-16, Alexander’s responsibilities included but were not limited to post player development, recruiting and scouting. Three players recruited by Alexander earned conference Rookie of the Year honors during her tenure on the Hill, including last season’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year, Emily Chmiel along with Jaeda Wildgoose (2015-16) and Cassie Sebold (2017-18). Wildgoose and Sebold went on to finish their careers as the top two scorers in program history.
The Griffins also qualified for the CACC playoffs four times since Alexander joined the staff, including last season when the Griffins achieved several milestones, including a program record 24 wins, their first ever NCAA Tournament berth and first ever CACC Tournament victory.
Prior to joining the Griffins staff, Alexander was an assistant girl’s basketball coach at her alma mater Lower Moreland High School for two seasons. In that time, the program has captured a Bicentennial Athletic League (BAL) title and qualified for the District 1 Tournament both seasons. Additionally, five Lions earned all-league honors during the 2015 campaign.
A model of consistency during her four years on the women’s basketball squad, Alexander was a double-digit scorer all four years, serving as the Griffins’ leading scorer each time. She recorded one of the best rookie campaigns in program history, posting 10.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game to pace the Griffins in both categories and merit the team’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at season’s end. Alexander followed that with three consecutive All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) showings, offering a career-best 13.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest as a sophomore (2010-11), 10.0 points and 6.0 boards as a junior (2011-2012), and 11.2 points and 6.5 rebounds in her senior season (2012-13), during which she became the school’s sixth 1,000-point scorer
Alexander still ranks among the Griffins all time top ten in over a dozen different statistical categories, including rebounds (4th, 603); points (6th, 1,116); steals (8th, 109); and assists (9th, 157) while playing in an even 100 games with 88 starts.
The Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania native was a former 1,000 point scorer at Lower Moreland High School (2005-2009)
Alexander is currently a special education teacher in the School district of Philadelphia. She graduated from Chestnut Hill College in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary/special education and earned her master’s degree in education the following year. Alexander resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
