Michaiah Young ’17 joined Coach West’s staff prior to the start of the 2017-2018 season. A senior captain with the 2016-2017 team, Young helped provide the leadership needed to produce back-to-back Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) postseason appearances in 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. Those same leadership skills earned her a 2016 Golden Griffin Award, as well as, a Chestnut Hill College President’s Award and the Dorothea E Fenton ’28 Memorial Award in 2017.
Young appeared in 22 games over three seasons with the Scarlet and Gold. In addition to her work on the hardwood, she impressed in the classroom as well with six straight selections to the Chestnut Hill College Athletics Academic Honor Rolls (Fall 2014-Spring 2017), five semesters on the Chestnut Hill College Dean’s List (Spring 2014, Fall 2015, Spring 2016, Fall 2016, Spring 2017), and a pair of appearances on both the CACC Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team (2015-2016, 2016-2017) and the Division II (DII) Athletic Directors Association (ADA) Academic Achievement Awards (2015-2016, 2016-2017). She also garnered an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar (2nd Team) award in 2017. Young was a member of both the Delta Epsilon Sigma and Alpha Phi Sigma honor societies.
