Ryan Washington joined the Chestnut Hill College men’s and women’s basketball coaching staffs prior to the 2013-2014 season. A former Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division Rookie of the Year (2007-2008) and All-PSAC East Division Second Teamer (2008-2009) at Kutztown University, Washington’s playing experience serves as a valuable resource for the Griffins.
Washington began his stellar collegiate career at Kutztown University in 2007-2008, as the PSAC’s top rookie performer; 9.1 points-per-game (PPG), 7.7 rebounds-per-game (RPG), 61 assists, 38 blocks, and 29 steals. He built upon his strong first-year performance with a –All PSAC East Second Team selection as a sophomore, 2008-2009. That season he helped lead the Golden Bears to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Atlantic Region final and a school-record 28 wins with his All-NCAA Regional Tournament performance, 20.7 PPG. He averaged 13.6 PPG and 8.5 RPG while recording 61 blocks during the regular season. In his junior season, 2009-2010, Washington was a two-time PSAC East Player of the Week en route to breaking the 1,000-point career scoring threshold; he averaged 17.7 PPG and 10.0 RPG that season, totaling 18 double-doubles and 1,176 points in his collegiate career at Kutztown University. As a senior, Washington transferred to Mountain State University in Beckley, West Virginia, where he was part of the 2010-2011 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national runner-up.
Prior to joining the Chestnut Hill College men’s and women’s basketball coaching staffs, Washington served as an assistant for the 8th-Grade Team at Devon Preparatory School in Devon, Pennsylvania. Washington holds an associate’s degree in Sports and Leisure from Kutztown University and he currently resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, while pursuing his bachelor’s degree in at Chestnut Hill College.
