Kate Scattergood

With past head coaching appointments at Susquehanna University (2002-2006), Washington & Jefferson College (2006-2012), and most recently, at Kutztown University (2012-2017), Kate Scattergood has been tabbed by Director of Athletics and Recreation Lynn Tubman as the next head coach for the Chestnut Hill College women’s lacrosse team.

Scattergood began her intercollegiate coaching career at Roanoke College, where she served as the assistant coach for both the women’s lacrosse and field hockey teams for the 2001-2002 season. She continued her renaissance-man career at Susquehanna University. As the River Hawks’ Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, Assistant Field Hockey Coach, and Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, Scattergood was not only responsible for the coaching and recruiting for two varsity teams, but she was also responsible for maintenance of the Clyde H. Jacobs Fitness Center, as well as, the physical training for Susquehanna University’s 22 intercollegiate athletic programs.

A move to Washington & Jefferson College in 2006 gave Scattergood the opportunity to focus on her craft. As the Presidents’ first Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, she developed Washington & Jefferson College into a three-time Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) Championship Tournament qualifier. Scattergood continued her upward trajectory at Kutztown University, where she reestablished the Golden Bears as a competitive team in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Under Scattergood, the Golden Bears accumulated 22 wins over the course of five seasons and was twice named an Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad (2014, 2016).

Scattergood earned her bachelor’s degree in communications/journalism from Shippensburg University in 1998, after a stellar intercollegiate career for the Raiders. The three-time captain (1996-1998) was a three-time All-PSAC performer, garnering Second Team status in 1996 and 1997, before receiving First Team honors in her senior season (1998).

Scattergood earned her Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification in 2001 and has worked for several camps and clinics over the course of her coaching career, including the Intrepid Elite Lacrosse Club (2010, 2012-2013), Mt. Lebanon Youth Organization Camp, Silverheels Lacrosse Club, VIP Lacrosse Camp, Newtown Field Hockey Camps, and the William Penn Charter Lacrosse and Field Hockey Camps. She currently resides in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.
