Williams-Mulesa Makes CACC Women’s Tennis Weekly Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. – (10/7/2013) – Sophomore
Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) was 2-2 at number two doubles, but 4-0 as an individual while supplying the Griffins match-winning point in a 5-4 victory over Slippery Rock University on Sunday, October 6. For her effort she represented Chestnut Hill College on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Honor Roll.
Williams-Mulesa joined senior
Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio) for number two doubles wins over CACC rivals Goldey-Beacom College, 8-4 on Wednesday, October 2, and the University of the Sciences (USciences), 8-0 on Saturday, October 5, but it was her fourth singles victory of the week that earned her recognition on the league’s weekly report. After securing the morning's first point a number three doubles, Chestnut Hill College (10-1, 7-0) trailed Slippery Rock University 2-1 at the conclusion of the team round. Thankfully, the Griffins performed better as individuals, as they came back from a 3-1 deficit to challenge the Rock for the match’s deciding point. With the outcome still in flux and her teammates courtside, Williams-Mulesa the clinched the victory by battling back from a 6-4 opening set loss to Rock's senior Sarah Joumond (Montpelier, France) with wins of 6-0, 6-3 in the next two frames.
The women's tennis team returns to their CACC on Tuesday, October 8, when they host Philadelphia University in a 3:00 p.m. match.
