The Chestnut Hill College Archery teams of the 1950’s reached levels of success and popularity that have gone unmatched at the College. Led by their captain, Patricia “Holly” Hollingsworth, Chestnut Hill College was undefeated for four straight seasons, 1952-1955. They won a National Section for Girls’ and Women’s Sports (NSGWS) Championship in 1956 and 1957, and a Division for Girls’ and Women’s Sports (DGWS) Championship in 1959. In 1953, Hollingsworth placed third at the National Intercollegiate Archery Championship. She placed first in the Philadelphia Intercollegiate Archery Tournament from 1952 through 1956, leading Chestnut Hill College to a first place finish in 1956.
