The 1979 Women's Volleyball Team made history when they became the first volleyball team in their short history to win a championship, capturing the PAIAW District IV Championship that season.  Fifteen young ladies made up the 1979 squad. Coach Lorraine Busch guided the team to seven wins during the year and was a perfect 3-0 in district play, defeating Our Lady of Angels (now Neumann University; Academy of New Church (now Bryn Athyn College) and finally Harcum College to capture the title.
