Bloomsburg, PA – (9/16/2009) – This evening, the Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team played their second fall match of the 2009-2010 season as they visited Bloomsburg University. The Huskies dominated doubles play and swept all six singles matches to top the Griffins 9-0.
Chestnut Hill College (0-2) rallied from a disappointing doubles performance to challenge Bloomsburg University (0-1) in singles play. Freshman
Pat Joson (Old Bridge, NJ) was one of many Griffins who put forth a strong effort. Joson fell at number two singles 6-4, 6-2. Sophomore
Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA ) lost number four singles 6-3, 6-1. Sophomore
Adrian Avena (Vineland, NJ) dropped number five singles 6-4, 6-1 and freshman
David Negron (Philadelphia, PA) took a 6-1, 6-2 loss at number six singles.
The men's tennis team will participate individually in the Wilson/ITA East Regional Championships this weekend, September 18-20, which will be hosted by Chestnut Hill College and Philadelphia University at the Arthur Ashe Jr. Youth Tennis Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
