West Chester, PA – (9/26/2009) – Chestnut Hill College started this afternoon's match at West Chester University strong with a 3-0 lead, sweeping doubles play. The Griffins earned their first win of the year with a 6-3 triumph after taking wins at number two, three, and five singles. Freshmen Pat Joson (Old Bridge, NJ)and Joe Boyle (Doylestown, PA) both scored wins in each format, leading the Griffins in their final fall match.

Joson and Boyle teamed for an 8-2 win at number two doubles, one of three points earned in team play by Chestnut Hill College (1-2). Junior Carson Richter (Lafayette Hill, PA) and sophomore Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA ) won number one singles 8-4, while freshmen John Reading (Phoenixville, PA) and Andrew Stiles (Medord, NJ) combined to with number three doubles 8-6.

In singles action, Joson, Boyle, and Reading each came away with individual victories. Joson won number two singles 6-4, 4-6, 7-5, finishing strong. Boyle won number three singles 6-1, 6-2 and Reading claimed the fifth singles flight 6-4, 6-2. West Chester University (1-2) took the remaining three individual matches.

The men's tennis team will continue their season in the spring with a trip to Florida.
