Women's Cross Country Finishes 9th at Delaware Valley College Invitational

Doylestown, PA – (9/5/09) - Freshman Theresa Basilica (Fredericksburg, Va.) paced the Chestnut Hill College women's cross country team to a ninth place finish at the Delaware Valley College Invitational. Four Griffins placed in the top 100 runners earning 248 points in the six kilometer race. Sophomore Owen Ward (Croydon, PA ) was the only male participant for Chestnut Hill College; he finished 57th with a time of 30:43.0 in the men's eight kilometer race.

 

Basilica finished 30th with a 27:05.4 and she was accompanied by a strong cast of Griffin harriers who combined for a brilliant team effort. Freshman Jordan Lyons (Sewell, N.J.) crossed in 27:13.8 for a 35th place finish and freshman Alexa Vadala(Bristow, Va.) also finished in under thirty minutes; she was 41st finishing at 27:23.7. Junior Brittany Murtha (Magnolia, NJ ) and freshman Brittany Hafer (Chalfont, Pa.) contributed to the team score finishing 99th (31:08.1) and 115th (33:08.3), respectively. Freshman Christina Squillante (Kings Park, NY ) and senior Colleen Tozer(Bayshore, N.Y.) also participated; they finished 149th (39:05.0) and 153rd (44:12.3), respectively.

 

The cross country team will race next at the Wilmington University Invitational on Saturday, September 12.
