Waterbury, CT - (10/23/10) – Chestnut Hill College had a tough going at Post University this afternoon, as the Eagles won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-20). Sophomore defensive specialist Bobbie Chukuntarod (San Francisco, CA) was a contributor on both sides of the net for the Griffins, recording two aces and 11 digs.
Post University (8-16, 6-7) wasted no time in taking the upper hand. The Eagles were quickly out to a 2-0 lead, winning the first, two sets 25-11 and 25-11. Chestnut Hill College (4-20, 1-12) managed to slow the Eagles a bit in the third set, but the home team proved too much for the Griffins as they claimed the match with a 25-20 win. Sophomore outside hitter Kelly Hayes (South Orange, NJ) and junior setter Taylor Doyle (Mystic, CT) powered the Eagles. Hayes scored a match-high ten kills while also recording an ace, 11 digs, and a block. Doyle scored two aces and supplied 20 assists.
Chukuntarod was supported by freshman Allison Eberly (Orwigsburg, PA) and sophomore libero Elisabeth DiGregorio (Conshohocken, PA) in leading the Griffin effort. Eberly contributed nine assists and ten digs while DiGregorio hustled to a team-high 14 digs. Sophomore right side Madelynn Ries (Antananarivo, Madagascar) led the Griffins in kills with five.
The women's volleyball team travels to the University of the Sciences on Tuesday, October 26, where they will continue their CACC schedule with a 7:00 p.m. match.
