Lafayette Hill, PA – (10/4/2010) – Chestnut Hill College slipped-in two, first-half goals to grab the advantage as the rains poured down on Victory Field #1. A second-half goal from senior midfielder Julian Fernandez (Galloway, NJ) made the final 3-0 Griffins, as the men's program improved to 3-0 all-time against the Lions.
Senior forward Yannick Wallace (Bowie, MD) put Chestnut Hill College (7-4) on the scoreboard with the first shot of the contest, one-timing a cross from freshman forward Darius Gbunblee (Philadelphia, PA), 1-0. The Griffins added to the lead 20 minutes later, when a punt from sophomore goalkeeper Michael Goldstein (Pennsauken, NJ) landed at the feet of freshman forward Bobby Stocklin (Haddonfield, NJ). Stocklin turned and fired to put the Griffins up 2-0 at 27:05. Chestnut Hill College carried that margin to intermission and just three minutes into the second half (47:51), Fernandez made it 3-0 Griffins with a breakaway strike down the right side. Goldstein earned the win (7-4), playing the opening 56:19 in net; freshman goalkeeper Al Graziano (Point Pleasant, NJ) finished the contest (33:41) in goal. Neither Griffin keeper recorded a save.
The men's soccer team resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule when they host Felician College in a 3:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, October 9.
