Philadelphia, PA - (10/8/10) – Chestnut Hill College threatened with a 25-23 win in this evening's third set, but Holy Family University responded with a 25-12 score in the fourth set to claim the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match by a 3-1 (25-15, 25-16, 23-25, 25-12) final. Sophomore middle hitter Cassie Benson (Rosamond, CA) was the Griffins top performer with eight kills and seven blocks.

Holy Family University (9-8, 8-2) used their home court advantage to grab an early lead with wins of 25-15 and 25-16 in the first, two sets, 2-0. The third set took a different tone as the Chestnut Hill College (4-16, 1-8) defense directed the Griffins to a 25-23 win, 2-1. Unfortunately the effort was not enough to overcome the Tigers, who eventually took the match 3-1 with a 25-12 mark in the fourth set.

Senior setter Aimee Drabyn (Avon, IN) fueled the Tigers, contributing 40 assists, three aces, and seven digs to the win. The Tiger frontline fed off the play of Drabyn as juniors outside hitters Jillian Keeve (LaGrange, IL) and Alyssa Keihl (Pewaukee, WI), and junior middle blocker Rebecca Tett (Leesburg, VA) each finishing with at least ten kills. Keeve led Holy Family University with 13 kills and she was one of four Tigers to record at least two aces in a 13-ace, team effort.

Benson hit .333 (8K-3E-15TA) as the Griffins most effective, offensive weapon. Sophomore right side Madelynn Ries (Antananarivo, Madagascar) killed seven balls, sophomore setter Courtney Gallo (Wilmington, DE) supplied 15 assists, and freshman setter Allison Eberly (Orwigsburg, PA) registered five assists and an ace. She also assisted on four blocks. Benson assisted four blocks as well, but she also made three solo blocks to tie her career-high, 7 (9/17/09 vs. Goldey-Beacom College). Sophomore libero Elisabeth DiGregorio (Conshohocken, PA) supported Benson and Eberly in the defensive effort with 14 digs; she also scored two aces.

The women's volleyball team travels to Georgian Court University for their next CACC match, scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. opening serve on Tuesday, October 12.
