Flushing, NY – (3/26/2010) – The men's tennis team visited Queens College along with the women's team as Chestnut Hill College was hosted by the Knights for an afternoon of tennis competition. The Knights defeated the Griffins 9-0 in both matches. The men had their best results coming at number six singles and number two doubles while freshman Danielle Knott (Mt. Vernon, NY) led the women's effort.
Queens College (6-1) took number one and number three doubles by 8-2 finals, while junior Carson Richter (Lafayette Hill, PA) and sophomore Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) came closest to a victory with an 8-4 loss at number two doubles.
Chestnut Hill College (6-5) had its best individual results come at number six singles with sophomore Adrian Avena (Vineland, N.J.) falling 6-2, 6-1. Freshman John Reading (Phoenixville, PA) lost number five singles 6-1, 6-1 and sophomore David Negron (Philadelphia, PA) took a 6-1, 6-0 loss at number four singles, while the Knights took the top two flights scores of 6-0, 6-0.
In the women's match, Queens College (14-2) held Chestnut Hill College (2-15) pointless in every flight except number two singles. Knott found the most success for the Griffins, taking a 6-2, 6-3 loss at number two singles.
The men's tennis team resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with a 1:00 p.m. match at Post University tomorrow, Saturday, March 27.
