Bloomfield, NJ – (4/1/2010) – Chestnut Hill College continued their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule today with an afternoon trip to Bloomfield College. The Griffins handled the Deacons in a 9-0 triumph, sweeping both singles and doubles formats.
Chestnut Hill College (8-6, 3-1) grabbed an early 3-0 lead in doubles play setting the tone for this afternoon's match. Freshmen Pat Joson (Old Bridge, NJ) and Joe Boyle (Doylestown, PA) won the top doubles flight 8-1. Junior Carson Richter (Lafayette Hill, PA) and sophomore Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) took number two doubles 8-2, while sophomores David Negron (Philadelphia, PA) and Adrian Avena (Vineland, NJ) dominated number three doubles 8-0.
Bloomfield College (0-5, 0-4) did not fare any better in individual play, as the Griffins took all flights while holding the Deacons scoreless in the bottom three matches. Boyle was the winner at number one singles 6-2, 6-1. Joson won number two singles 6-0, 6-1, and Twyman took number three singles 6-1, 6-2, while Negron, freshman John Reading (Phoenixville, PA), and Avena won numbers four, five, and six singles by 6-0, 6-0 finals, respectively.
The men's tennis team heads to Concordia College for their next CACC match. The competition of regionally ranked conference rivals is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. start on Saturday, April 3.
