Philadelphia, PA – (4/13/2010) – Taking all matches in singles and doubles play, Chestnut Hill College defeated Bloomfield College 9-0 in this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match. Sophomore Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) was one of three Griffins to win their individual match in straight 6-0, 6-0 sets and he teamed with junior Carson Richter (Lafayette Hill, PA) for an 8-0 win at number two doubles.
Freshmen Joe Boyle (Doylestown, PA) and Pat Joson (Old Bridge, NJ) started Chestnut Hill College (12-10, 6-5) off well with an 8-2 win at number one doubles. Twyman and Richter took the second flight while sophomores David Negron (Philadelphia, PA) and Adrian Avena (Vineland, NJ) won number three doubles 8-3.
The Griffins were just as successful in singles play. Boyle took the top match 6-1, 6-1. Joson won number two singles by the same final. Twyman, freshman John Reading (Phoenixville, PA), and Avena won 6-0, 6-0 at number three, four, and five singles, respectively. Negron played the sixth singles match to a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
The men's tennis team returns home to host an afternoon of competition on Saturday, April 17. The Griffins will begin the day with an 11:00 a.m. match against Dowling College, before entering in a CACC match with Post University at 3:00 p.m.
