Men’s Tennis Yields to Clippers

Bronxville, NY – (4/3/2010) – The Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team took a trip north to Concordia College as the Griffins challenged the Clippers in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition. The match featured two of the top ten teams in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region. The top rated Clippers won the match 9-0 over the Griffins, who held a ninth overall ranking in the most recent ITA Rankings (3/2/10).

 

Concordia College (9-2, 4-0) swept doubles play, with sophomore Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) and junior Carson Richter (Lafayette Hill, PA) finding the most success at number two doubles. The Griffins lost the match 8-2. The Clippers took number one doubles 8-1 and number three doubles 8-0.

 

Sophomore Adrian Avena (Vineland, NJ) put forth the best individual performance for Chestnut Hill College (8-7, 3-2), losing 6-2, 6-2 at number six singles. The Clippers won the top three flights by scores of 6-0, 6-1 and they completed the shutout with wins of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2 at number four and number five singles, respectively.

 

The men's tennis heads next to Caldwell College, as the face the Cougars in CACC play at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5.
