Griffin Tennis Sweeps Golden Rams

West Chester, PA – (10/15/2011) – Chestnut Hill College scored a pair of victories their afternoon, winning 6-3 in the men's match and 8-1 in the women's. The Griffin women won all but number six singles, while the men's team used a 2-1 doubles advantage to defeat the Golden Rams 6-3 in their third straight, season-opening win.
 
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) was strong at the top of both matches, winning number one through number three singles and the top doubles match in both men's and women's play. The Chestnut Hill College (12-2) women only surrendered a point at number six singles, as junior Nastia Shcherbakova (Minsk, Belarus), sophomore Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, OH), junior Maria Parapouras (Victoria, Australia), freshman Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, PA), and Junior Danielle Knott (Mt. Vernon, NY). Shcherbakova and Dennis combined for an 8-2 win at number one doubles, while Parapouras and Oechsle claimed number two doubles by the same winning score that bright Knott and freshman Alexis Puhl (Philadelphia, PA) a win at number three doubles, 9-7.
 
Sophomores Yoann Pham (Boulogne-Billancourt, France) and Manuel Ceniceros (Mexico City, Mexico), and senior Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) won in both formats to power Chestnut Hill College (3-0) to a third consecutive victory. Freshman Mike Humes (Medford, NJ) contributed the winning effort with a 6-2, 6-2 win at number one singles. Pham, Ceniceros, and Twyman followed with individual wins at number one, two, three, and five singles, respectively.
 
The men's tennis team ends play for the fall season, while the women's tennis team returns home to host Goldey-Beacom College in a 2:00 p.m. CACC match.
