Griffins Prove Greater Than Golden Falcons

Rutherford, NJ – (10/15/2011) – Chestnut Hill College scored a second straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road victory this afternoon, with a 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 25-9) win at Felician College. After a pair of even-played sets, the Griffins took command of the affair behind the performance of sophomore outside hitter Alex DePalma (Shillington, PA) and freshman setter Sidney Chukuntarod (San Francisco, CA).
 
Junior middle hitter Cassie Benson (Rosamond, CA) pushed Chestnut Hill College (11-14, 6-7), to the early advantage with her play in the 25-19 opening set win. The match swung even with Felician College (0-22, 0-15) scoring a 25-22 win in the second set, but behind the direction of Chukuntarod, the offense gained strength and efficiency to win final two sets, with a .316 (15K-3E-38TA) hitting percentage in the third set, 25-16, and .409 (13K-4E-22TA) hitting percentage in the winning set, 25-9.
 
Freshman outside hitter Annie Polscher (Elmshorn, Germany) led the Golden Falcon effort with 13 kills, two aces, and nine digs. Senior setter Megan Delamater (Paramus, NJ) helped out with 29 assists and an ace, sophomore middle blocker Alexa Scrivanich (Paramus, NJ) contributed with five kills, an ace, and six blocks.
 
DePalma killed 14 balls and hustled to 14 digs headlining in the Griffins performance. She also scored an ace. Chukuntarod supplied 40 assists and also helped defensively with nine digs. Benson finished the match with ten kills and four blocks. Sophomore setter Ali Eberly (Orwigsburg, PA) spotted five aces.
 
The women's volleyball team continues their CACC schedule at home on Tuesday, October 18, with a 7:00 p.m. match against Philadelphia University.
