Men’s Tennis Rebounds with CACC Win over Eagles

Philadelphia, PA – (3/26/2011) – Chestnut Hill College returned to their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with fervor, welcoming Post University to campus with an 8-1 defeat. The Griffins swept doubles play before claiming all but number six singles.
 
Chestnut Hill College (6-9, 1-1) grabbed a 3-0 advantage defeating Post University (1-4, 0-1) in all three doubles matches. Freshman Juan Farah (Caracas, Venezuela) and sophomore Patrick Villafuerte Joson (Old Bridge, NJ) won number one doubles 8-2, while senior Mario Gutierrez (Malaga, Spain) and freshman Manuel Ceniceros (Mexico City, Mexico) shut the Eagles out at number two doubles, 8-0. Junior Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) and freshman Ross Garabedian (Horsham, PA) won number three doubles 8-4.
 
Gutierrez set the tone for individual play, earning the Griffins a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at number one singles. Farah followed suit with a 6-2, 6-0, win at number two singles. Joson won number three singles 6-1, 6-1. Ceniceros was victorious 6-1, 6-0 at number at number four singles and freshman Jeramy Solema (Briarwood, NY) won number five singles. The Eagles earned their only point at number six singles, 6-4, 6-0.
 
The men's tennis hosts LaSalle University in their next match; a 3:30 p.m. match on Tuesday, March 29.
