Philadelphia, PA – (4/2/2011) – Chestnut Hill College picked up their second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win this afternoon with a 9-0 triumph over Caldwell College. The Griffins swept four singles matches and two doubles matches, while the Cougars forfeited the other three flights in the defeat.
Chestnut Hill College (7-10, 2-1) won number one doubles 8-1 and number two doubles 8-0 while taking the third team flight by default. The Griffins superior play carried over to singles play. Sophomore Patrick Villafuerte Joson (Old Bridge, NJ) won number one singles 6-1, 6-1. Junior Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number two singles and freshman Jeramy Solema (Briarwood, NY) was successful at number three singles 6-1, 6-0. Caldwell College (0-5, 0-4) gave their best fight at number four singles, but freshman Stephan Wolfert (Ronkonkoma, NY) fought for a 3-6, 6-3, 10-1 win. The Griffins claimed the final two individual matches by default.
The Chestnut Hill College tennis team continues their CACC schedule with a 4:00 p.m. match at Philadelphia University on Tuesday, April 5.
